His father was George Preston who was born in 1861 in Aberford and mother was Aley Hannah Smales born in 1855 in Hawnby. The family, including brothers Alfred E and Arthur 11 and 9, returned to England 1896<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1901 he was living with his parents and 11year old brother, William A. in the Oak Tree Inn, Helperby N. Yorks where his father was the publican.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1911 he was a single 24 year old and living as a boarder of John Westerman in Bellvue Cottage. His occupation was hairdresser. Mary was a hairdresser like her father and both worked at 62 Main Street but in separate rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mary was an enthusiastic and talented member of Garforth Arts Club.
